This is a piece of coal recovered from the wreck of the RMS Titanic!
Built by the White Star Line, at the time of her construction the Titanic was the largest passenger liner in history. At 11:40 p.m. (ship's time) on April 14th 1912 she struck an iceberg on her maiden voyage and sunk in the North Atlantic. More than 1500 lives were lost.
