This is an incredible partial oreodont skull (Merycoidodon culbertsoni)! 

This partial skull measures ~3.75" long and ~2" tall. It was excavated in Custer County, South Dakota (Brule Formation).

Dating back to ~30 million years before present, these extinct Oligocene mammals roamed what became the White River Badlands of South Dakota. 

These terrestrial, territorial, herbivores may have been visually similar to boars but grew up to 1.4m (4.6ft) long. They may have weighed between 94.6-129kg (209-307lbs).
