Himba Hearts, Native Ochre Pendants
These glass heart pendants are filled with real aboriginal ochre from the Himba tribe of northern Namibia.
The Himba are the last nomadic people left in Namibia. They are well known for covering their bodies in a mixture of butterfats and this ochre to cleanse their skin during droughts and to provide protection from the harsh climate and insect bites.
To the Himba peoples wearing ochre is powerfully beautiful, with its colouration symbolizing blood, the essence of life, and a deep connection to the earth.
This ochre was obtained from the Himba with full consent and understanding that some would be resold.
Price is per ~1.5" tall pendent and they can be shipped worldwide.
