Antiochus VI was the grandson of Ptolemy VI of Egypt, and son of Alexander Balas and Cleopatra Thea.
He never actually ruled, despite the king title. He was only a few years old when he was nominated by nominated by the general Diodotus Tryphon, in opposition to Demetrius II.
At some point, between the age of 7 and 9 years old, Antiochus VI died. Some sources claim it was an assassination, while others say he passed as the result of a surgery.
