The Sasanian Empire, officially known as the Empire of Iranians, was the longest Persian imperial dynasty, stretching from 224-651AD.

It was the successor to the Parthian Empire and helped re-establish the Persians as a major power, alongside the Roman Empire.

At its peak, it had conquered all of present-day Iran and Iraq, a large portion of eastern Mediterranean (including Egypt and Anatolia) and parts of Pakistan, the Caucasus and Central Asia.
