This is a real, contemporary, human skull decorated by the Dayak peoples of Borneo! Famous for their headhunting history, the skulls of slain enemies would historically be taken as trophies. The Dayak would carve intricate patterns, or create beautiful ornamentation on these skulls and hang (or display) them in their communities.
