Real Pacific anglerfish taxidermy for sale! This genus of anglerfish is named for the growths from their forehead that are dangled to lure prey. Unfortunately it was not preserved on this particular specimen.

They have incredibly wide mouths and the jaws are designed to shift out of the way to allow large prey to be swallowed, and then shifted back to prevent escape. When coupled with their enormous stomach, these adaptations allow a monkfish to swallow prey as large as itself!
