Real nutria skull (Myocastor coypus) for sale!
Also known as a coypu, these are large, semi-aquatic, rodents native to South America.
They have since been introduced as an invasive species to North America, Europe and other regions as a source of fur.
This skull is exceptionally rare, because it is from a nutria that was not properly wearing down its teeth. As a result, the teeth grew unchecked and spiralled into the mouth. Given enough time, this condition would likely have been fatal.
This is a PERFECT example of this phenomenon and would be a terrific opportunity to add to any collection - personal or academic.
These skulls measure ~4.5" long AND CAN BE SHIPPED WORLDWIDE.
**This skull was on display at the Prehistoria Museum but has been deaccessioned to urgently raise funds for our operations.**
