This blade would have had a cross guard, as indicated by the lateral notches near the base of the sword.

The Sarmatians originated in the central area of the Eurasian Steppe and were a part of the wider Scythian cultures. 

They existed from roughly 5th century BCE-4th century CE and actually dominated the Scythians in 200BCE.
