Fossil seabed for sale! This is a real slice of prehistoric seabed! If you've ever been to the shores of a lake, ocean or sea you'll recognize the preserved patterning - it was formed by wave action, but roughly 300 milllion years ago! 

This specimen was found along the Gulf of St Lawrence in Nova Scotia. In those times, the Canadian Maritimes were located very close to the equator. It would have been a tropical paradise, with warm water, sandy beaches, and shaded by some of the first tree species on Earth!
