Shu was the Ancient Egyptian god of light and air and a personification of both the wind and the earth's atmosphere.
It was told that, as the god of light, Shu illuminated the primordial darkness and created the separation between day and night.
As the god of air, Shu represented the space between the earth and the heavens, giving the breath of life to all of the Earth's living creatures. Shu's powers extended over the world's winds, leading sailors to invoke his will to fill the sails and propel their ships.
