Nut (pronounced "newt"), was the goddess of the sky, cosmos, astronomy and the heavens. She was often depicted as a woman bent over the Earth, with her feet in the East and her head in the West.
In the instance of this amulet, she is shown in her animal form - a celestial cow.
She was one of the oldest Egyptian deities, and was the mother of Osiris, Set and Isis. Her parents were Tefnut and Shu.
