This is an authentic Ancient Egyptian figurine of Harpocrates, the Greek adaptation of Horus The Child! Horus, or Harpocrates, was the son of Isis and Osiris.
Crafted during the Hellenistic period (323BCE-31BCE), during the Greek conquest of Egypt, every element of this figurine was highly symbolic. The nudity, side braid and finger to the mouth are all symbols of childhood - even the position of a hand to the lower lip was a physical representation of the hieroglyph for "child".
Seen here wearing the Hem-Hem crown, but otherwise in the nude, this fantastic 4.5" tall artifact would make addition or start to any collection.
