This is a real cradleboarded child skull, from the Nazca culture of Peru!

Dating back between 100BCE and 800CE, it is believed that this skull belonged to a 4 year old child.

In what is now the Ica Region of Peru, these peoples practiced cranial modification (cradle-boarding) on their infants to create abnormal skull development. This would typically be done between 1-6 months after birth when the human skull is most pliable.

It is believed that the altering of a child's head could be to denote higher status in a society or follow their spiritual beliefs that it would enhance the function of the brain.

This skull is currently located in the United States. Worldwide shipping is available. Email for additional photos and information.
